Domestic Commercial Parties: Laborers` International Union and Distribution Contractors of America.Scope: Applies to all distributions and distribution companies, including other underground distribution facilities for public or private companies (excluding sewers and water pipes) in the United States. The agreement includes the repair, maintenance, construction, installation, treatment and repair of distribution lines that transport coal, gas, oil or other similar materials, vapours or liquids (other than sewer and water pipes), as well as pipes, telephone lines and power lines. The construction, manufacture or supply of goods is excluded. The Employment Contracts Act provides for the setting of rates of pay and ancillary benefits in force locally. In 1972, LIUNA succeeded in amending the SCA so that conventional wages and ancillary benefits were also recognized as contractual. Effective date: three to five years – 90 per cent of contracts have a validity date of October 1, which coincides with the federal government`s fiscal year.
